Duomanga

Beta list ยท iPhone Duo, iPhone, iPad

Manga that reads the way the volume was printed.

Right to left. The cover on its own, then the pages pair up. Made for the iPhone Duo first. It also runs on any iPhone and iPad.

The pictures on this page are from Apple's Duo simulator. I don't own a Duo yet.

Diagram, not a screenshot The cover sits alone. Then pages pair up, right to left like printed manga. Left to right works too. Closed, the outer screen shows one page.

Close it, open it, turn it. You're still on the page.

  1. Closed. One page on the outer screen.
  2. Open. A two-page spread on the inner screen.
  3. Book pose. The same spread, held like a book.
  4. Laptop pose. The page keeps to the half above the crease. The controls sit below.
  5. Turned sideways. Same page.

Other readers do this too. This is how I do it.

Pages pair the way a printed volume does.

  • The cover sits alone. After it, pages pair, right to left. Left to right works too.
  • A wide scan, which is already a two-page splash, is shown whole. It isn't cut or squeezed.
  • If a volume pairs the wrong way, restart the pairing from any page.
  • Long strips open in vertical scroll by themselves, so webtoons just work.
  • Works with VoiceOver, Dynamic Type and Reduce Motion.

Want to try it first?

Join the list and I'll send the TestFlight link when the beta opens.

Your files. Your server.

It has no manga of its own. That's on purpose.

  • Reads CBZ, ZIP, CBR, CB7 and PDF.
  • Bring files in from the Files app, over Wi-Fi from your computer, with Share or AirDrop, or by drag and drop.
  • Run Komga or Kavita? Browse your library, download or stream a chapter, and your reading progress goes back to the server. It uses OPDS 1.2. This is a Pro feature, and I haven't tried it on real servers yet.
  • Your place syncs between your devices over your own iCloud account. It never goes through a server of mine.
  • A short sample chapter comes with it, so the library isn't empty on day one.
  • Books locked to another store's app won't open. That's their lock, and I can't get around it.

Reading is free. Pro adds the extras.

Where it is today

I'd rather you know now than find out in the beta.

If one of the "not built" rows matters to you, the comparison with Panels says where it's ahead.

Who makes this

I'm Devansh, a solo developer in India. I make Duomanga on my own.

I don't own an iPhone Duo yet, so everything on this page comes from Apple's simulator. A real Duo will show me things the simulator can't. That's why I'm running a beta.

Reply to any email from me. I read every one.

Questions

When is it out?

There's no date. The beta comes first. You'll get an email when it opens, and another when Duomanga is on the App Store.

Can I join without a Duo?

Yes. It runs on iPhone and iPad (iOS 18 or later). It's made for the Duo, but nothing needs one.

You haven't used it on a real Duo. Why should I trust it?

You shouldn't, yet. It's tested in Apple's Duo simulator. A real Duo will show me what the simulator hides, and I'll say so in the beta emails.

What does the beta ask of me?

Install TestFlight, then Duomanga. Use it. Tell me what feels wrong, by replying to an email or sending feedback from TestFlight.

Is it free? What will it cost?

Reading is free, with no limit on series, and the page curl is free too. Pro adds the extras. It's a yearly plan with a 7-day trial, or a one-time purchase. I'll announce prices at launch.

Does it work with Komga and Kavita?

Yes, in the beta. Browse, download or stream, and your progress is written back. It uses OPDS 1.2. It's a Pro feature, and I haven't tried it on real servers yet.

Does anything leave my device?

There's no account, no ads, no ad ID and no tracking across apps or sites. The app sends anonymous usage counts (fixed event names and a random install ID) to TelemetryDeck. That is on by default. Switch it off in Settings, under Privacy & about. This website sets no cookies and runs no analytics. The privacy policy has the rest.

Does it open manga I bought in other apps?

Not if the app locks it (DRM). Duomanga reads files you have and servers you run. It has no manga sources and doesn't find or download manga.

Is there a Mac version? Will my progress sync?

There's no Mac app. Progress syncs between your iPhones and iPads over your own iCloud account.

Tell me when the beta opens

One email when it does. Reply with what's wrong.
