Duomanga

Duomanga privacy policy

Last changed: 31 October 2026.

Duomanga is a manga reader for iPhone and iPad. It is made by one person, Devansh Gulhane, in India. This page says what Duomanga keeps, what leaves your device, and where it goes. The short version: your manga and your reading stay on your device and in your own iCloud. Duomanga has no accounts, no ads and no tracking across apps or websites. It does send anonymous usage counts by default, and you can turn that off.

What Duomanga keeps on your device

  • Your manga. The files you import (CBZ, ZIP, CBR, CB7, PDF) and the pages unpacked from them. They live in Duomanga's own folder on your device, or in the iCloud Drive folder you chose as your library.
  • Your reading. Which chapter and page you are on, what you have finished, and your settings (reading direction, the Look, the app icon, cover size, which series you locked with Face ID).
  • Servers you added. The name, address and user name of each home server (Komga, Kavita). The password is kept in the iOS Keychain, the system's locked store.
  • Crash and performance reports. iOS can hand apps a daily report (launch time, hangs, memory) and a report after a crash. Duomanga keeps the last 20 on your device so a problem can be looked at if you send one. They are never sent on their own.

All of this is deleted when you delete the app.

What leaves your device

Three things can leave your device. Reading progress goes to your own iCloud when you are signed in. Requests go to servers you add. Anonymous usage counts go to TelemetryDeck, and they are on by default with a switch to turn them off.

1. Reading progress, to your own iCloud

If you are signed in to iCloud, Duomanga keeps your reading progress (series, chapter, page, finished or not) in your iCloud account's key-value store, so your other devices open the same page. This goes to Apple's iCloud under your Apple Account, not to us. Signing out of iCloud on that device stops it. We cannot see it.

2. Requests to the servers you add

If you add a home server (Komga or Kavita), Duomanga talks to that server to list your library, download chapters, stream pages and write your reading progress back. Your user name and password go only to the server you typed in. Duomanga warns you when a server address is plain http, because that traffic is not encrypted on the way. We never see your servers, your credentials or what is on them.

3. Anonymous usage counts, to TelemetryDeck (on by default)

Duomanga counts how its features are used, through TelemetryDeck, a privacy-first analytics service based in Germany. What it sends:

  • Fixed event names such as "chapter opened" or "import finished", with fixed words as parameters (for example which import path was used). No event can carry a file name, a series name, a server address or a device name.
  • A random install id made by the app, so counts are not inflated by one device. It is not your Apple ID, not your device id, and is not linked to you. There is no advertising identifier and Duomanga never asks for App Tracking Transparency.

What it does not send: your manga, your pages, your progress, your servers, your location, or anything that identifies you.

It is on by default, and you can turn it off in Duomanga › Settings › Privacy & about › "Share anonymous usage". Turning it off stops it right away. In builds where the service is not set up, Settings says "Not set up yet" and nothing is sent at all.

What Duomanga does not do

  • No accounts. You never sign up or sign in to Duomanga.
  • No ads, no ad networks, no advertising identifier.
  • No tracking across apps or websites, and no selling or sharing of data.
  • No server of our own. Duomanga never uploads your manga anywhere.

Permissions Duomanga asks for, and why

Permission Why When
Face ID To open the series you locked. Nothing is locked unless you lock it Only when you open a locked series
Local network To show the Wi-Fi upload page to computers on your network, and to reach your home server Only when you start the upload page or add a server
Files To import the files and folders you pick Only when you pick them

This website and the waitlist

This section is about duomanga.com, not the app.

  • The waitlist. If you sign up for the TestFlight invite, we keep your email address, the date you signed up, where you came from (the utm_source, utm_medium and utm_campaign values in the link you clicked, if there were any), and the two optional answers you can give afterwards: what you read on (Duo, iPhone, iPad, or none yet) and whether you run Komga or Kavita. We use it to email you when the beta opens and when Duomanga is on the App Store, and to answer if you reply. Nothing else.
  • Who holds it. MailerLite stores the list for us and sends the emails. You confirm your address by email first (double opt-in). Every email has an unsubscribe link, and unsubscribing stops the emails. To have your details deleted, email us.
  • The site itself. It sets no cookies and runs no analytics or ad scripts. Our host, Vercel, keeps standard server logs (such as your IP address and the page you asked for) for a short time to run and secure the site.

Children

Duomanga is not aimed at children and collects nothing from anyone, children included.

Changes

If what Duomanga sends ever changes, this page changes first and the date at the top moves. The app's Settings always link to the current version of this page.
